What Happens During a Behavioral Assessment?

A behavioral assessment is the first step in creating an individualized treatment plan. During this meeting, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) gets to know your child and your family’s goals.

The assessment may include observations, conversations with parents, and activities designed to understand communication, social interaction, daily living skills, and behavior.

This process is not a test that children pass or fail. Instead, it helps identify strengths, challenges, and opportunities for growth.

After the assessment, the BCBA develops recommendations and explains the goals that will guide therapy.
