How It Works

Getting Started With ABA Therapy

A clear, step-by-step path — with our team beside you at every stage.

You Don't Have to Figure Everything Out Alone

Every family starts from a different place. Wherever you are, our team is here to listen, answer your questions, and help you understand what comes next. The exact process can vary based on your child's needs, insurance plan, documentation, location, and provider availability.

Phase One

Getting Started

The first two steps are simple: make sure a diagnosis is in place and reach out — no paperwork required to start the conversation.

Los dos primeros pasos son sencillos: asegúrese de tener un diagnóstico y póngase en contacto; no se requiere ningún papeleo para iniciar la conversación.

Confirm or Obtain an Autism Diagnosis

Many insurance plans require a formal autism diagnosis before ABA therapy can be authorized. If your child already has one, keep the diagnostic report handy. If not, your pediatrician or another qualified healthcare professional can help you find the right next step.

Contact Aspire ABA Therapy

Reach out and tell us a little about your child, your location, your insurance, and the kind of support you're looking for. You don't need every document or answer ready first — we'll explain what may be needed.

Phase Two

Coverage & Information

We review your benefits and gather what your plan needs, explaining every requirement in plain language along the way.

Verify Insurance Benefits

We'll gather basic insurance information and review whether your plan may include ABA benefits. Coverage, authorizations, deductibles, referrals, and age requirements vary by plan, and we'll explain the next steps as clearly as we can.

Insurance verification does not guarantee payment or authorization of services.

Gather the Required Information

Depending on your plan and your child's situation, you may be asked for certain documents — such as a diagnostic report, a physician referral or prescription, an insurance card, ID, or previous evaluations. We'll tell you exactly what's needed for your case.

Phase Three

Understanding Your Child

Through conversation, observation, and a personalized plan, we build care around your child's real strengths and goals.

Complete an Initial Consultation

In our first conversation, we'll learn more about your family's needs and answer your questions — your child's age, communication, daily routines, behavioral concerns, schedule, and service location. This helps us understand whether Aspire may be the right fit.

Complete a Behavioral Assessment

When appropriate, a qualified professional completes a behavioral assessment to understand your child's strengths, needs, and meaningful goals — through conversations with parents, direct observation, and review of available records.

The goal is to understand your child as an individual, not to place every child into the same program.

Develop a Personalized Treatment Plan

The information from the assessment shapes an individualized treatment plan, with goals around communication, daily living skills, social interaction, positive behavior support, independence, and family participation.

Phase Four

Beginning & Growing Together

Once everything is approved, we introduce your care team, begin in-home sessions, and keep adjusting as your child grows.

Insurance Authorization and Scheduling

When authorization is required, the necessary recommendations and documentation are submitted for review. Once requirements are met, we'll talk with you about authorization status, the recommended schedule, provider availability, and your start date.

Meet Your Care Team

Before services begin, we'll introduce the professionals who will support your child. We'll explain each team member's role, how supervision works, how to reach the team, and what to expect during sessions.

Begin In-Home ABA Therapy

Services begin in your child's home based on the approved treatment plan, clinical recommendations, scheduling, location, and provider availability. Working at home lets skills be practiced within familiar, meaningful routines.

Continue Learning and Growing Together

Starting services isn't the end of the road. Your child's progress, needs, and goals are reviewed throughout care, and parents stay involved through training, progress discussions, goal development, and ongoing communication with the clinical team.

Every milestone matters — and your family will never navigate the journey alone.

How Long Does It Take?

Every Family's Timeline Is Different

The time needed to begin ABA therapy can vary. It may depend on whether a diagnosis is complete, insurance verification and authorization, referral or prescription requirements, available documentation, assessment scheduling, family availability, and provider availability. Our team keeps you informed and explains what's happening at each stage.
